Traveling as Couple
This motel is most likely to come into play only if a traveler to Grinnell commencement has not made a reservation more than six months in advance. From the get go, it is forbidding. If you approach from the east, good luck even getting to it. (You will be able to see it, but only this review will tell you to turn right to the traffic light, and then a left onto the frontage road.) Family with Young Children
Disappointed; too much chlorine in hot tub so much so it had to close, front desk help fell asleep and was not prepared for breakfast and then did not keep up with needs of breakfast, running out of everything and garbage overflowing. ...read more

It was fine. I would stay there again. The guy at check in was covering for someone and a bit lost, but the morning crew was on top of things. They could use a little work on replacing the caulking in the shower and cleaning the coffee pot in the room. Everything else seemed clean enough. ...read more

Solo Traveler
This was a very nice hotel right off the freeway. Easy to get to. Breakfast was very good and the staff was helpful.

Traveling as Couple
We arrived early and were allowed an early check in. We were given a smoking room when I had requested a nonsmoking. They were great about immediately putting us in a nonsmoking room. I asked about the internet and was told yes the room had internet. When we could not connect we were told once again, that yes the room had internet. We could not connect and gave up. The next morning we attempted to connect on the hotels pc for visitors. Again we could not connect. When my husband went to the front counter we were told the internet had been down all weekend. It was apparent that the staff had known about the internet at the time we inquired but we were not advised of such. The room was nice but for the price I have stayed at better in Newton. The hotel was just ok and next time I think I'll stay in des Moines and drive to Newton to visit family if I have to pay that much for a room w/o internet, one queen bed and dogs barking down the hall. ...read more

Family with Teens
It felt like a new building, with a nice pool, pleasant room, and continental breakfast. They accepted a low "Name your own price," and the quality far exceeded our expectations.
